COMfortel WS-500S / WS-500M
This PBX supports the operation of the IP DECT base stations COMfortel WS-500S and COMfortel WS-500M. The following handsets can be operated in connection with these devices as IP DECT phones on the PBX:
COMfortel M-510
COMfortel M-520
COMfortel M-530
Singel-cell system with the base station COMfortel WS-500S
You can use a COMfortel WS-500S to create a single-cell system with a base station.
The device has an integrated DECT Manager. It manages the handsets via its own Web Configurator and provides the DECT functions.
It ensures communication between the handset and the PBX.
Up to 20 mobile devices can be connected.
Multi-cell system with the base station COMfortel WS-500M
One or more COMfortel WS-500Ms can be used to set up a multi-cell system with one or more base stations and a central management station. In this case, the COMfortel WS-500M performs difference device roles. Different extension levels are possible here.
With the "Integrator" device role, the device manages the handsets via its own Web Configurator.
With the "DECT Manger" device role, it manages the synchronisation of the base stations and ensures the communication from the PBX to the respective base stations.
Depending on the configuration level, a different number of handsets (limited by the maximum number of users in the PBX) can be connected.
*Further information can be found in the Instructions of the base station.
General information about the configuration
Connection and operation of the IP DECT base stations COMfortel WS-500S and COMfortel WS-500M to the PBX is via the Ethernet port and correspondingly assigned VoIP channels.
Depending on the individual procedure (e.g. use of provisioning or manual configuration), the base stations and handsets are configured and maintained on the web interface of the PBX and in the Web Configurator of the base station. See the description below.
Only the base stations for which the device role "DECT Manager and Intergrator“ is activated are configured at the PBX. Base stations with the role "Base station" are not configured in the PBX but in a for the mutli-cell operation previously determined base station with the role "DECT Manager and Integrator".
The handsets are operated in connection with the base station as IP DECT phones on the PBX.
Requirements for first commissioning
*For information about planning the DECT network, local area (LAN) configuration, and more, refer to the Instructions of the base station.
First commissioning via provisioning
*Important: Do not connect the base station to the local network (LAN) until you have completed Step 4. Provisioning cannot be initiated automatically if the base station is connected before then.
1.Configure a base station in the PBX for the COMfortel WS-500S or the COMfortel WS-500M with the future device role "DECT Manager and Integrator" using the MAC address (label on the back of the device) (page Telephones > Assignment).
2.Configure a user with the phone number of the handset in the PBX (page User > Phone numbers).
3.Configure for each COMfortel M-5x0 a device with the type DECT handset and the knowledge of the IPUI in the PBX (page Telephones > Assignment). You can obtain the IPUI by reading it from the handset (pressing the control button and entering *#06#) or by reading the packaging label. Assign each handset a base station and a user.
4.If necessary, create a provisioning file for the device type COMfortel WS-500 in the PBX and assign a base station to this file. If the provisioning file has already been created, assign a base station (page Telephones > Provisioning).
5.Connect the base station via LAN cable to the network and wait for the boot process.
6.Only COMfortel WS-500M: To set up a multi-cell system with more than one base station, set the "DECT Manager and Integrator" device role for a base station directly on the device.
7.The base station restarts and the provisioning file is automatically transmitted from the PBX to the base station and the device is configured.
8.After successful provisioning, the base station remains in login mode for one hour. During this time, register the handset to the base station (on the handset under Settings > Logging in > Registering a handset).
*Note: Using provisioning, the existing template supplies all handsets with contacts of the PBX when LDAP is configured and activated.
*For information about connecting the base station, booting, setting the device role, and the LED display on the device, refer to the Instructions of the base station.
Manual first commissioning
1.Configure a base station in the PBX for the COMfortel WS-500S or the COMfortel WS-500M with the future device role "DECT Manager and Integrator" using the MAC address (label on the back of the device) (page Telephones > Assignment).
2.Configure for each handset a user with the phone number of the handset in the PBX (page User > Phone numbers). Make a note of the internal number, the name and the password for each user.
3.Configure for each handset a device with the type DECT handset and the knowledge of the IPUI in the PBX (page Telephones > Assignment). You can obtain the IPUI by reading it from the handset (pressing the control button and entering *#06#) or by reading the packaging label. Assign each handset a base station and a user.
4.Log into the Web configurator of the base station and carry out the further steps for the configuration of the PBX, the base station and the handsets there.
*The description can be found in the Instructions of the base station in Initial Commissioning > Configuring a base station.
Checking for firmware update
After the configuration of the base station, it should be checked via the Auerswald homepage whether a firmware update is available for the device.
